Picked up my new ride yesterday!!

hello everyone,
For the past 3 months I have been looking, and looking, and looking for a killer deal on a 92 hatchback, preferably the cx or the vx as they both weigh in at a whopping 2094 lb stock. Well my wait is over, on Thursday I was searching all classifeds the major papers in Texas ie. (San antonio, dallas, fort worth, and of course houston) Well I found a 94 cx that already had a vtec motor (b18c1 or sohc it didnt say) for 5300 which I thought would of been a good deal, but the car was already sold. But then looking thru the ft. worth paper a CX caught my eye! The seller was asking 2600 for the car only problem was a/c not working. I figured.. a/c is comming out anyway So I call the guy on Friday and to my amazement he hadnt sold it yet, (it was put in the paper Thursday) I let him know that I am really interested in the car, and he graciously tells me that he will hold it for me till I get there on Sunday.. For those of you that havent checked your papers for these little hatch backs. Most run for 3.5K+ and I have really been wanting one bad! Not just for the hybrid swap but also to have a back up car incase my teggy takes a shit, now what I mean?? I was tempted to fly up there but then figured.. what if the deal doesnt go thru?? So decided instead to take a road trip in my teggy w/ my girl. Left at 5:30am and arrived in arlington at 10:00 am. At first glance the car was a beauty! It was waiting for me in front of the house. It had my name written all over it, and was yelling at me .. BUY ME, BUY ME!! J/K Maybe it was the close to 5 hours on the road that was getting to me! Enough of the fluff.. the seller was the only owner of the car and it was bought w/ 8 miles. It was garage kept for all it's life except for the last 3 months.. (they bought a new camary) The paint on it is red (very very shinny) The car had been in one little fender bender on the left rear front in a storm, and another one on the left rear when it was parked someone hit it and broke the lens. Hearing that I was a little leary cuz I didnt want a car w/ frame damage, but fortunetly this man has kept every freaking reciept for his car since day one!! He showed me the body shop estimate to fix both accidents the front one only cost 450.00 to replace parts and labor at the dealership too!! and the rear was 220.00 at the dealership.. so it was obvious that it was a real fender bender. My last accident cost over 8K for the fix!! I was very very impressed that he had all the reciepts for the car. Every 3k he had a reciept for oil change. The car has new cv axles, brakes, tires, distributor, tune up was done less than 20k miles.
That was the good stuff.. now for the bad part.. The car has 189,000 When I first drove it something didnt sound right in the engine. The engine runs smooth as a babys butt, but after driving it out of his view I did a thorough inspection of what I was about to buy. I am soo glad I did too! I found that it was leaking water from the side of the timing cover. It was a problem w/ the water pump. Looking over the records, the guy changed the timing belt at 90k but never bothered to change the w/p.. and it was up for a timming belt again now anyways. That was the only problem I found.. I got up under the car checked for oil leaks, etc.. none found! I went back to the seller and told him the big problem I had found and knowing he was familiar w/ dealer pricing I told him fixing the w/p would cost 500.00 (yeah right!!) After all was said and done.. I bought my new gorgious car for an unbelievable price of 2000.00
Drove the car home w/ the expectation of having to tow it part or most of the way and fortunetly only had to stop one time after 2 hours of driving to add water and let it cool down. (it only leaks alittle). After that made it to my house w/ no problems where it awaits a new pump and timing belt! Best of all.. I was absolutely amazed at the mpg on this thing!!! 42 mpg and yes that is on a motor w/ 189k miles. what mpg does that new insight get??
My girlfriend thinks it is going to be a crime to tear down this little car and convert it to a race/street car. But good thing is everything I take out of this car will bolt up to her 92 civic lx sedan including the engine.. so she will get over it! After all it was 100% her money that just bought me the car!! But she is going to be racing it at the events once everything is said and done (she weighs practacly nothing compared to my fat ass!)

Future plans: Pull my s/c'd b18c1 and drop it into the hatch.. w/ a little bit of NOS and after a bit of stripping to get into the low 12's (dont want to buy a roll cage)

Question for all of you: Should I bother trying to fix the a/c as it will be steet driven too to dump it.. my overall thoughts are.. I will have a different daily driver (hopefully a 2000 TL after I trade in my stock GSR) and it will save on weight. Opinions anyone??

Hey Alex congrats!! If you need any hookups with honda parts go see Andy Pastran at Gillman Honda and tell him I, Arturo of Ft. worth, sent you. He is a good tech when it comes to hondas, but he dont know alot about whats out there for the hondas like aftermarket stuff ie SC, turbos.
If you go by there take a look at my CRX si that he has cuz he is hooking me up with parts and free labor. I cant gaurentee hell do free labor but he might save you some cash.

You are right! I am very lucky and appreciate her alot. She has been good to me. But I know what she is doing.. ever seen the animal channel when one animal does a dance of some sort as a mating call. I see it know, this is her way of getting me to ask the infamous question somewhere down the line.. and I am a sucker.. but not anytime soon HEHEHE!!
